Creating a Personal Mission Statement

What the heck is a personal mission statement and why would you want to create one? Well think about this…

Are you happy with your life?

Do you wake up most days knowing that you are on the “right track” for you?

If you answered no to either or both of those questions, then it is time to change some things.

Rather than accepting this dissatisfaction in life, know that you can lead a fulfilling life! It is not too late! Why accept dissatisfaction when you can enjoy your life?

The process of creating a personal mission statement can open your eyes to the person you currently are and how to get to the person you would like to be. No one is perfect and you shouldn’t expect yourself to be either, but you can live up to your potential.

We all have a personal mission statement whether we know it or not, but are we living according to them? Do you enjoy your life? If the answer is no, I would bet anything that you are not living by your internal mission statement.

But if you don’t know what your mission statement is how could you possibly be living in a way that goes against it? Trust me, if you do not feel that your life is fulfilling, you are living against it. The only way to live according to it is to figure out what the hell it is.

This exercise at Live Bold and Bloom is a great starting point to open your eyes to the mission statement buried inside of you.

Are you ready to lead a fulfilling life?

Get over there and take the time to dig it out of you! I promise that it can lead you to the kind of life that seems like a dream now.

Mantras To Help You Love Yourself

It is not always easy to love yourself while living with the constant competition and comparison that media inevitably brings.

The good thing is that every moment is a chance to start again.

You can choose self-abuse or you can choose to regain (and keep) your self-esteem and the knowledge that you are amazing.

If you don’t believe it, then fake it ’til you make it. If you tell yourself something over and over again (even if you think it’s untrue) you will begin to believe it. That is why mantras are so important when you are fighting the negativity brewing in your own mind.

You must start a habit of thinking positive things about yourself and your unique life situation. Start the habit today.

I like short mantras – those with one or two sentences so that you can commit them to memory and say one (or shout it out) over and over when you need the boost. After saying it enough times, the negativity will fade away.

Focus solely on the words. Look yourself dead in the eye in the mirror, and say each one at least four times out loud. This will give you the most impact – try to say them out loud as often as you can.

If you start to cry while saying a specific one, then you know you should say it to yourself every day (multiple times a day) until you can confidently look at yourself in the mirror with conviction. It’s time to love yourself.

I deserve happiness, respect, and love.

I am enough.

I am amazing and ready to achieve my dreams.

I am proud to be myself.

I forgive myself for my mistakes.

I am free to live a life that makes me happy.

I am not perfect and that is ok.

I matter.

When are you going to say these mantras? Set a time and a place and commit.

Remember: you can either choose self-abuse or you can choose self-love.
